The nurse here at OHMS is Judy Morton. The medical secretary in the health office is Tracey Hansen. Mrs. Morton also covers the Hebron Station school as well, but spends most of her time at OHMS.
The school nurse provides first aid for injuries and illnesses. She works in coordination with students, physicians, parents and teachers to decrease the impact of a student's chronic or acute illnesses on their education experience. Information, assessments, referral and support are offered for a wide variety of health issues.
What's Happening?
Reminder of the SAD 17 Medication Guidelines:
- No medication will be administered without parental permission and physician authorization.
- ALL medication (including any over the counter medicines, such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen) will be kept in the nurse's office and will be taken only under the supervision of school personnel.
- Students are not allowed to have medication in their possession at school. The ONLY exceptions to this are inhalers for students with asthma, Epipens for students with severe allergies, and diabetic supplies for students with diabetes.
- Whenever possible, the time of drug administration should be altered to allow a student to receive all doses at home.
- Medication brought to school must be in it's original container, and labeled by a pharmacist or physician.
- If your child needs medication at school, please bring the medication in, the student should not transport the medication.
If you have any questions regarding the medication guidelines, please call the nurses office.
H1N1 VACCINE: Here at OHMS, we have 251 students who have received the H1N1 vaccine. Hopefully, this will help keep our students healthy during this flu season. If your child has not been vaccinated yet, and would like to receive the vaccine, please call your doctor. The school district does not have any more vaccine to give at this time. For any questions or concerns, please contact Judy Morton at 743-5946.
2/9/2010 The School Based Health Center is still offering the seasonal flu vaccine. If your child has not had the vaccine and you would like him/her to receive it, please call the health office.
