SAT for All OHCHS Juniors

Saturday, May 7th, 2011.

Breakfast: 7:15 AM
Testing: 7:45 AM

On Saturday, May 7, 2011, attendance is mandatory for all juniors to take the SAT test at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.  Normally, this test costs $47.00 for each student.  However, because the Department of Education has made the SAT a mandatory requirement, there will be no cost to your family for the test.

Testing will begin promptly at 7:45 A.M.  Transportation will be provided via school bus and sign ups for school bus service will be available in the Guidance Office.  A free breakfast will be served for all students beginning at 7:15 A.M.  Immediately following testing, a free spaghetti luncheon will be provided for students and their parents/guardians.  Additionally, $10,000 of scholarships will be raffled off to students who are present.  Since Saturday, May 7 is a mandatory day of attendance, all juniors who attend will be granted a day off from school on the following Monday, May 9th.

To better prepare your student for the test, Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School has offered access to two different SAT preparation programs at no cost.  The Official SAT Online Course, a College Board product, has been made available year round to all students (grades 9-12) in Maine public high schools free of charge. Your student should have already received an access code to utilize this program.  If you do not have a code, contact your child’s guidance counselor.  Please go to http://www.collegeboard.com for more information about this program.  Also, teachers at OHCHS will be integrating SAT preparation into their regular classroom curriculum, allowing students to practice skills and prepare for the test.

Students should bring a photo ID, a no. 2 pencil and their registration ticket.  The school will provide calculators for students who do not have their own.   Students should be reminded that all cell phones need to be turned off and put away during testing, otherwise they may have their scores cancelled by the College Board. It may be best for students to leave their cell phones at home during testing.

If you have any questions about the test date or the preparation opportunities, please contact Ted Moccia, OHCHS Principal or Nancy McClean, Coordinator of Guidance and Academics at 743-8914.
