OHCHS Junior Class College Visits 2012
Last year, sophomores visited a college with their sophomore team. This year, juniors may choose which college(s) that they would like to visit during March. The following college visits are being offered:
- Friday, March 9th (green day) – University of Southern Maine - Gorham campus (www.usm.maine.edu) - leave OHCHS at 9:00 and return to OHCHS at 1:45.
- Tuesday, March 13th (green day) – University of Maine Farmington – (www.umf.maine.edu)- leave OHCHS at 8:00 and return to OHCHS at 1:15.
- Tuesday, March 20th (gold day) - Southern Maine Community College, South Portland (www.smccme.edu) - leave OHCHS at 9:00 and return to OHCHS by 3:00.
- Thursday, March 22nd (gold day) - University of Maine, Orono (www.umaine.edu) - leave OHCHS at 7:30 and be back at OHCHS by 4:15. After touring UMO, you will have the opportunity to visit a specific department/ major that you are interested in. Please let me know your choice.
- Thursday, March 29th (green day) - Central Maine Community College, Auburn (www.cmcc.edu) – leave OHCHS at 9:00 and return to OHCHS by 12:45
Please search these colleges’ web sites; see what programs/ majors they offer and what their admission requirements are.
When you decide which college(s) you would like to visit, check them below, get your parent’s signature and return to Maureen Howard in E208, Mrs. Campo in the Main Office, or Norah Maki in our Aspirations Lab (C119).
Please make a sincere commitment once you sign up. You will be signing up for a space on the bus.
The number of students going on these visits will be on a first come, first serve basis. Once the bus is full, I will not be accepting any more requests. So get your request back to us ASAP. I need to tell the colleges how many students they are feeding.
You do not have to bring money for lunch. We will be paying for lunch through grant money. Feel free to bring money to buy snacks or a drink for the ride home. Feel free to bring music, etc. to listen to during the bus ride.
We will be back at OHCHS before the 2:00 bus except for the Orono and SMCC trips. We will be back in time for the late buses for these two trips.
